Sageman Drums imports only Djembes made from three hardwoods: Lenge, Acajou, and Hare. The Djembe heads are made of superior goatskins from Mali. Sageman Drums is now working with a group of experienced Malinké drum makers who assure quality results from the falling of mature hand-picked trees and cutting into rough shapes near Dabola in Upper Guinea, to the finishing designs and head stretching at Bouba’s workshop in Conakry’s Madina district. Additionally, this region has a reputation for producing some of the best Djembes in the world.
